Half-Moon Investigations

Author:Eoin Colfer

Fiction

Year Published: 2006

Genre: Mystery novel

Type: hard cover

Review: I only read the first five chapters because it didn't really catch me but I think a lot of other people might get hooked on it. The book was about a boy who can solve almost every mystery. For starters his sister asked him to solve something out. Her boyfriend wrote her a letter and she said it wasn't like him to put off something. So he found out some key things about the letter. It smelled like perfume and it had secret writing that he erased but not totally. He put some grains of sand on top of the letter and shook them off and they caught in the grooves where the pencil was and found a letter saying he had dumped her. There were a lot of hard words and the characters were in high school.

The Dragon in the Driveway

Author: Kate Klimo

Fiction

Year Published: 2009

Genre: fantasy

Type: hard cover

Review: This book is the second book in the Dragon Keepers series. It is about where St George the dragon slayer takes over the forest and takes over two groups of mystical magical animals. He almost captures Emerald (the main character). Emerald's dragon keepers might have to help. I thought this was a great book. It was just as good as the first book. I would continue to read the series and if you haven't started the series then start it today!

Cabinet of the Earths

The Cabinet of Earths

Book: Cabinet of the Earths

Author: Anne Nesbet

Fiction

Year Published: 2012

Genre: Fantasy

Type: hard cover

Review: I started this book and got to the third chapter. It was about a Magic Cabinet that held Earth's main components together to create Earth. I did not like it because it was very complicated and a bit too in depth. I would suggest this for Grade 8 or 9.

Review: This book is about a boy who notices things that other people miss. When dogs start disappearing people can not find them. One day Logan finds that his friends dogs have been disappearing in unusual ways. I thought it was because of people stealing them but Logan found out that the dogs were disappearing without their collars. I thought it was great. I thought it was cool and very interesting because there was a lot of science fiction and mystery.
